The main objective of Measure 3 of the Production and Marketing Plan is to provide assistance to the members of the OPP and training in relation to fisheries legislation, promotion of sustainable fishing practices and on-board safety and training in these matters.
The OPP will establish collaborations with public bodies and private entities in the occupational risk prevention sector, such as the Social Marine Institute (ISM), the Generalitat bodies in charge of occupational risk prevention, the Maritime Captaincy, professional training institutes in the maritime fishing sector, nautical schools, mutual accident insurance companies, occupational risk prevention companies, etc.
It will also collaborate in specific training with Palamós Town Council and with the Promediterránia Foundation and the Espai del Peix.
The aim of these collaborations is the ongoing training of crews and shipowners. A permanent collaboration will also be established with the Nautical Fishing School so that the students can carry out practical sea training on Palamós boats and thus also promote interest in the vocation and learn about the job opportunities in the sector. The courses taking place in Palamós at the end of 2022 are:
– Fishing Seafarer – Palamós, from 21/10/2022 to 07/11/2022.
– Basic Safety Training – Palamós, from 08/11/2022 to 16/12/2022.
More courses will be held in 2023, with Palamós, Roses and Blanes being the most likely locations for these courses.
