The OPP is one of the entities that implement this training, which is a new proposal from the Regional Council of Baix Empordà, the School of Nautical and Fishing Training of Catalonia, the Cofradía de Pescadores de Palamós, the Generalidad of Catalonia and the European Union – Fondo Europeo Marítimo y de la Pesca-.
This free training seeks to promote maritime trade among young people, to reverse the lack of generational replacement. If you like the sea, fishing can be your job.
Training and certification of the Nautical Fishing School of Catalonia
- Sailor Fishermen (40h)
- Basic Security Training (70h)
- Sanitizing primary production in extractive fishing (2h)
The training, which starts on April 24, will take place in the Fishermen’s Guild of Palamós and includes:
- Practical seamanship sessions on board the boats
- Fishing baptism day
- Two days of Maritime Safety practices at the school’s facilities in the Port of Tarragona
- Possibility of being hired during the summer by one of the boats, with a paid apprentice contract
- Tutoring and accompaniment during training and practices
